A couple years back, to celebrate the final season of Game of Thrones, HBO commissioned some well-known Scotch Whisky distilleries to create limited editions of Single Malt Scotch. These whiskies, released as the Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Collection, represent some of the more influential Houses in the epic fantasy HBO series inspired by George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, as well as a couple other notable factions of characters. The collection includes 7 whiskies devoted the main families of Westeros’ Seven Kingdoms, as well as a couple releases that give nods to the Night’s Watch a the Wall and the White Walkers.

While the book series is still waiting for another installment, the HBO television show wrapped up to some criticism (no spoilers here). I haven’t tried all the Scotches yet, but I’m told they have a more palatable finish than the T.V. series.

The Game of Thrones Scotch collection consists of eight limited edition single malt scotch whiskies that represent eight of the main families, or houses, in the Game of Thrones Saga. Each individual release in the collection comes from a different distillery across Scotland, which is fitting.

Whiskies included in the Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection are:

All of these releases have been quite popular, and many of them are sold out in most places, but let’s take a look anyway and see where we might find them. I’ll include some links to my affiliates, but I can’t guarantee they’ll always be in stock.

Another favorite family among Game of Thrones fans, House Targaryen has a long, complicated history of ruling over the seven kingdoms. Probably the rightful heirs to the Iron Throne, the Targaryen blood line is among the most important in all of Westeros. Oh, and they also ride dragons.

Game of Thrones House Targaryen comes from Cardhu distillery, also in the Speyside region of Scotland. House Targaryen Single Malt Scotch Whisky is another 80 Proof (40% ABV) whisky full of baking spices on the nose and a caramel palate. Whether due to the title of Queen Daenerys Targaryen, first of her name, or the full flavor profile, this is one of the more sought after bottles in the GoT Scotch line. As of writing this, it was in stock at the Whiskey Dealer.

Game of Thrones Scotch
