Jameson and Bushmills are both Irish whiskeys but they are also different<\/em> Irish whiskeys. Different drinkers will have their preferences, but these two spirits can both be equally enjoyed for their best features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bushmills is produced in it’s namesake town, Bushmills, about 60 miles north of Belfast, Ireland. The distillery, and the history books, claim it to be the oldest licensed distillery in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Though the Bushmills distillery creates a lot of different great whiskeys, the Original recipe is most commonly compared to the Jameson competitor. It’s an easy 80 proof (40% ABV), and a relatively young blend of Irish whiskeys. Sweet with apples and pears on the nose and woody honey palate. Bushmills original finishes quick and sweet.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n Jameson, has a similar rich history. Produced at Midleton Distillery, Jameson is a blend of grain whiskey done in single pot stills. There’s a bit of bitterness on the palate that isn’t immediately present in the leomngrass sweet nose. Some oat and cinnamon is there, but the bitterness lingers for a while. This is also a 40% ABV whiskey. Depending on the glass you’re drinking from<\/a>, this whiskey can have a lot more character on the nose. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n Okay, so not to be too<\/em> aloof, we’ll give you an answer of preference<\/em>. Bushmills is the more palatable of these too Irish whiskeys, in our humble and more bourbon-favorable opinion. Neither one of them should be billed as a uniquely delicious<\/em> option.
