Wild Turkey Master’s Keep 2022: Unforgotten
The label indicates that Wild Turkey Master’s Keep Unforgotten will be “a blend of Kentucky Straight Bourbon and Rye Whiskey Finished In Rye Casks”. So if you’re familiar with something like High West’s Bourye, then consider that this might be similar. This batched blend is non-chill-filtered (NCF) and will be bottled at 105 Proof (52.5% ABV). The tasting notes on the label indicate “fruit, sweet oak, black pepper, and warm baking spices”, or a veritable bouquet of all great whiskey flavors.
Will Wild Turkey Master’s Keep Unforgotten Be Available in NC?
Like most special releases, this annual blend from Wild Turkey will be heavily allocated, but recent updates to the NC ABC Stock page indicate North Carolina will definitely have some circulating the state. This should come as no surprise as we’ve seen every previous iteration of Wild Turkey Master’s Keep in years past.
Accord to the recent addition to the aforementioned stock page, the North Carolina ABC system added Unforgotten to their price lists on August 8th, 2022, but (as of August 10th) no distribution as come through the warehouse (we’ll update when we notice that change). Also, according to that same update, we learned that in North Carolina, Wild Turkey Master’s Keep Unforgotten will retail at $224.95.
As for its actual availability in the state, it’s anybody’s guess. Limited releases are always allocated to some level, so this will not be flooding shelves. Some ABC stores may put it out on a first-come, first-serve basis, other’s may hold it for loyal customers or a holiday lottery.

You may not have much luck finding such a rare bourbon at online retailers, but it’s always work a look. Nestor Liquors is letting people sign up for email alerts if/when it becomes available, but it might not be listed at the same price as ABC store will offer it.

Leaked documents (I know, crazy right?) indicate that Wild Turkey Distillery will be releasing a 13-year age-stated version of their Russell’s Reserve brand. According to documents found at the United States Tax & Trade Bureau, Russell’s Reserve 13 Year Barrel Proof Bourbon will be a Non-Chill Filtered bourbon.
The sample label indicates a 100 Proof (55% ABV) bottling, but this may just be a placeholder. Similar to Barrel Proof releases from Elijah Craig, Larceny, Buffalo Trace (Blanton’s SFTB, Stagg Jr., etc.), the proof Russell’s Reserve 13 Year would likely vary by batch.
Russell’s Reserve 13 Year Release Date
As of now (September 21, 2020), we’re going off a tax filing for this new release, so we don’t have a firm release date. This could end up being a limited release, but we’re hoping it will become a shelf regular like ECBP.

Russell’s Reserve Barrel Proof Availability
Wild Turkey hasn’t given any press details on the release of Russell’s Reserve 13 Year Barrel Proof Bourbon, but there’s no reason to think this anticipated whiskey will be particularly difficult to find. The Label appears to mimic that of the Russell’s Reserve Bourbon and Rye regular and single barrel releases, which may hint towards a rather normal distribution.
Expect to find Russell’s Reserve Barrel Proof on shelves sometime in 2 to 6 months… hopefully with a good release in time for the holiday season. If you’re in North Carolina, keep on eye on the NC Stock warehouse status for an indication of when we might see it come to ABC stores. Also watch online retailers that ship to NC, like Mash&Grape or 1-877 Spirits.

]]>Wild Turkey is set to release their newest addition to the Master’s Keep line. 2020 boasts the fifth bottling in this series, Wild Turkey Master’s Keep Bottled-In-Bond is an exciting 17 year old expression of the Wild Turkey mash. It will be bottled at 100 Proof (50% ABV) and is said to have notes of dark cherries, vanilla, toasted oats, spice and hints of smoke. The MSRP is around $149.95, but it will sell in North Carolina ABC stores at $174.95.
This isn’t the first time a Master’s Keep release has come packaged with a 17-year age statement. The first edition, just called “Master’s Keep” was a 17 year bourbon aged in stone warehouses.

Where to Buy Wild Turkey Master’s Keep BiB
The Master’s Keep releases from Wild Turkey aren’t typically the most rare finds. North Carolina boards will likely all see a few of these bottles at least. Some of the older expressions of this special release are still available on shelves in certain places (if you. know where to look).
In North Carolina, our usual advice applies. Shop loyal to a single ABC store if you can, and get to know the employees. If nothing else, they can probably give you a heads up on when these will start hitting shelves (likely by the end of May or early June 2020.
You can also keep an eye on online stores like Bounty Hunter, Drizly, and Saucey. They don’t all ship to NC, but they might ship to someone you know.
The Wild Turkey Master’s Keep Bottled-In-Bond 17 Year should be easy enough to find if you keep your ear to the ground and do some whiskey hunting. Any tips of your own? Leave them in the comments!
