]]>Henry McKenna 10YR Bourbon
So what’s the hype about? Essentially, this Heaven Hill’s answer to Blanton’s and (in some ways) Eagle Rare. It has all the qualities of a really great bourbon:
And the taste lives up to the resume. Henry McKenna Single Barrel is a 10 Year Old, Single Barrel Bottled-In-Bond that is well worth the $55 price tag it carries in North Carolina. Couple with the boom in demand for all bourbon, and the scarcity of bottles at a similar quality and price-point (and some awards), it’s getting harder and harder to track this bourbon down in NC ABC stores.
Like most bourbons we talk about on here, your best bet for finding Henry McKenna in a local ABC store is to be a loyal, regular customer. Customer loyalty can go a long way in finding scarce bourbons. Henry McKenna isn’t popular enough to make it into most ABC lotteries, so finding it on the shelf (or behind the counter) is going to be your best bet. Sometimes that means being in the right place at the right time, and other times it means knowing someone who can tip you off. Remember, always be polite to ABC store employees.
Some online retailers keep Henry McKenna 10YR Single Barrel readily in stock. The price might be marked up a bit, but usually not as heavily as other hard-to-find bourbons. If you buy several bottles (of this or others) you can save a lot of money on shipping. Nestor Liquors is a great online retailer that ships to NC, and they frequently have Henry McKenna Single Barrel in stock.
